The Bears claimed defensive end David Bass off waivers from the Oakland Raiders and they will have to make a corresponding roster move to clear space for the rookie. Bass was a seventh round draft pick of the Raiders and made three tackles when the Bears played at Oakland in the third preseason game.

Bass, 6 foot 4, 256 pounds, made one sack in preseason and had 40 1/2 sacks in his career at Division II Missouri Western and 11 1/2 as a senior. He excelled in the East West Shrine Game and the Raiders were hoping to re sign him to their practice squad where one source believes they would have offered more Cheap NFL Jerseys than the minimum of $6,000 per week.

 

The Bears put the majority of their practice squad in place too, announcing the additions of seven players, meaning one spot is open. Quarterback Jerrod Johnson, a Texas A product who has bounced around the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles, Pittsburgh Steelers and Seattle Seahawks, and also played in the defunct UFL, was signed to develop behind Jay Cutler and Josh McCown. Five players that were released were re signed: tight end Fendi Onobun, cornerback Demontre Hurst, linebacker Jerry Franklin, defensive lineman Aston Whiteside and running back Harvey Unga.
